Transcript from the lva image of the land purchase: Tarlton Gillaspie, 11 acres, Amherst James P Preston Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth Virginia To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know Ye that in conformity with a survey made on the ninth day of Novemeber 1816, by virture of a Land Office Exchange Treasury warrant Number 2111 fixed (?) the 12th, June 1810, there is granted by the said commonwealth, unto, Tarlton Gillaspie asignee of James Rowsey a certain tract or parcel of land containing Eleven acres situate in the county of Amherst on the waters of Pedlar river and bounded as follows ??? Beginning at a white oak corner to Larkin Bias thence (?) with his lines South fifteen degrees West sixty nine poles(?) to pointers corner to George Morris thence his lines North seventeen degrees West seventy two poles to a white Oak and thence North sixy eight degrees East forty nine to the Beginning To have and to hold the said tract for or parcel of landwith its approiateness to the said Tarlton Gillaspie and his heirs forever. In Witness whereof the said James P Preston Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia hath hereunto set his hand and caused the the ? seal of the said commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the Twelth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen and of the commonwealth the forty third.
